Three Card Poker, also known as Tri
Poker, Three Card or Tri Card Poker is a
delightful twist on the popular card
game of poker and is loved by all
players seeking the thrill of
traditional poker with a difference.
Three Card Poker essentially combines
two games into one, and players are
usually allowed to choose either one or
both games at a time. This rule, however
may not apply to all 3 Card Poker
tournaments and it is worth checking out
before signing up to any type of
competition.
Three Card Poker is
played with a standard deck of 52 cards
and consists of Pair Plus and Ante/Play.
In Pair Plus, players need only decide
how much to bet, and there is no
strategy involved in this game. In
Ante/Play, more strategy is required,
and those players who manage to beat the
dealers can win even money and their
ante and play bets, as well as the ante
bonus if this is applicable.

3 Card Poker Tournament Overview
|
|
3 Card Poker tournaments are popular
both online and off, especially on the Vegas
Strip. The tournament essentially consists
of one or more rounds, where each player is
given a particular amount of money. Each
round constitutes a predetermined number of
hands of 3 Card Poker being played out, and
chip values are counted at the end of every
round. Individual round totals are added
together to make up a final score at the end
of the tournament, in the event of there
being more than one round in the 3 Card
Poker competition.
Generally, the
final six players meet each other in the
last round of the tournament, and they have
an equal chance of winning the competition
since their scores leading up to the finals
are not relevant anymore. In many
competitions, money is awarded to all six
finalists, with the size determined
according to the chip totals at the end of
the competition.
There are many
strategies and tips available for 3 Card
Poker players and it is well worth studying
these before taking part in any competition.
For example, players should apply that
classic 3 Card Poker strategy of calling on
any queen/six/four or higher and to fold in
every other case. This strategy is also
applicable to tournament play and can go a
long way in taking you further in the
competition.
Another tip is to place
equal bets on the Ante and Pair Plus. Also,
players should keep their bets low enough to
get through the whole round and this may
take some calculation on the player’s part
beforehand.
All in all, what is
important to keep in mind when playing 3
Card Poker tournaments is to maximize your
money, regardless of the risk in order to
advance to the next round.
